Inclusive Excellence

As our mission statement reads: The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning promotes students’ academic and future success through campus and community partnerships.

We commit and live this mission statement through our core values of inclusive excellence, respect, student-focused, enthusiasm and teamwork.

In our commitment to inclusive excellence and diversity, it is critical for OVPTL to undertake a systematic self-reflection with respect to how well we are achieving our inclusive excellence value, with a focus on anti-racism and support for our community at UCI while continuing our work on other ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts. The Inclusive Excellence Workgroup was created to facilitate OVPTL’s growth in this area through assessment, connection, and information sharing with all stakeholders

Theresa joined the IE Council because she is committed to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing within OVPTL and broadly on our campus. Theresa went to UCI for her B.A. in Public Health Policy (’15), her Ph.D. in Public Health (’22), and now she works here. Her free time is spent with her 3.5-year-old son, finding new places to eat and review because she’s been Yelp Elite for 5 years, and working off the food at Orangetheory.
